Starts: Monday, 3 October, 2016 02:30pm
Ends: Monday, 3 October, 2016 08:30pm
The photo exhibition is a strategic pictorial compilation of historical persons, events and places in Nigeria as archived by a renowned photo collector extraordinaire, historian and photographer. The pictures shall be displayed and compiled in chronological order dating back to the 1900s as it significantly captures facts, viewpoints, legacies and most importantly our history. ‘Our History’ reminds us all that reflecting and understanding the past is crucial. It is also vital to learn from it or to ensure those wrongs are never recurrent in the future. ‘Your Story’ reflects the fact that your journey forms a significant part of Nigeria’s story, whether pain or victory. ‘Our Future’ reinforces that fact that lives in the hearts, minds and actions of all Nigerians as we move forward that our unity in diversity makes us richer, and that together, we are stronger. OBJECTIVES - To drive useful conversations and possible interventions on very important national historical events, festivals and other memories, which active youths are losing fast because of archiving culture of these events and large dependence on watered down information; - Reinforcing the importance of history in school curriculums as well as make proactive steps in preserving information/ photography to serve as a good source of Nigeria’s history which will continue to be referenced by academicians, historians etc. - To stimulate imaginations of young vibrant Nigerians about Nigeria and it’s beautiful past, traditions, customs, culture, peoples, leaders and more.
