Cybersecurity & Food Sustainability:
Protecting Local Farms, Protecting Our Communities
'If You Can't Feed Yourself, You Can't Defend Yourself'

This workshop helps cybersecurity students understand how securing small local farms protects food supplies, local economies, and community resilience.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify key cyber risks
     Students will recognize common vulnerabilities in farm technologies and local food supply chains, and explain how attacks can disrupt communities.

  2. Connect security to local economies
     Students will describe how protecting farm data and systems supports local jobs, keeps money in the community, and reduces dependence on distant food sources.

  3. Design farmer-friendly protections
     Students will outline practical, farmer-focused cybersecurity measures for on-farm technology, online marketplaces, and communications that strengthen local food systems.
