“YAHYA FESTIVAL”, is run by young creatives who are passionate about the Arts and would like to see more young people embrace their talents and engage in what they are truly passionate about. It is inspired by the unveiling of the hidden talents that the youth possess and showcasing them thus illustrating that we are so much more than other people’s expectations of us.
This season’s theme is based on the “Leso” which reminds us of Africa; of our roots. The color symbolizes the diversity of Africa; the patterns illustrate how creatively gifted we are; the message printed on each “Leso” has a moral to every person’s story and is reminiscent of the times when we would look to our elders for wisdom and they would give us sage advice in form of proverbs. The “Leso” has boundaries which signify that there is always a beginning and an end to everything. In totality, it represents a person’s skill, workmanship and character. "Yahya" stands for community, growth, untapped potential and celebrates different aspects of different cultures.
