Dear Mercedes Benz Club Members

You and your partner are cordially invited to the annual Merc/Art event which will be held in the CR Louw Auditorium at Sanlam Head Office on 15 August 2016 - 19h00 for 20h00. The Art Gallery and Museum will be opened from 19h00 for your enjoyment. The Club meeting will commence at 20h00 to discuss Mercedes Benz club related business.

I am pleased to advise that Estienne Cronje, the Brand Centre Leader for the Boland area will present to us on some exciting developments regarding the 3-pointed star.

The Curator of the Sanlam Art Collection has provided a synopsis of the Art exhibition.

"The current exhibition in the Sanlam Art Gallery entitle “Precious Paradise” consists of a selection of works from the collection dating from 1843 to 2009. The title of the exhibition is derived from series of etchings by Ada van der Vyver produced in 1982 titled “Precious Paradise”, which was a satire on the state of affairs in South Africa at the time – just prior to the establishment of the tri-cameral parliament. The selection of works reflects in many ways the state of art in South Africa over time. One excursion into this state being the prominent of the female nude, a touchstone of Western art history, and how it has been dealt with from Irma Stern to Diane Victor. Visitors to the exhibition would encounter diversity of works from the “colonial” emblems of hunting by Thomas Baines to the banality of the daily grind of washing up by Adam Letch."

As usual snacks & juice will be available as well as additional glasses should you wish to bring your own beverages along.

The basement parking at the Sanlam Head Office Main Reception (Northern Parking Garage) will be open to park your prized Mercedes'. We might have a surprise parked in the basement garage, compliments of Paarl Motors :)

Attached is some of the Artworks to be showcased.

I look forward to hosting you.

Kind regards
