Event Details

This year marks the 14th Annual Nigerian Reformed Bible and Theological Conference for ministers, church leaders and Bible College students in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. It is the 1st Reformed Conference of its kind in Nigeria among confessional churches that espouse the doctrine of grace. the thme this year is "The Importance of the Belief & the Power of Inspiration and Authority of the Holy Scriptures in Relation to the Christian Church & Ministry in the 21st Century". Since the liberal teachings have made an inroad to Nigeria, downplaying on the inspiration and authority of the Scriptures, we find it necessary to bring this teaching up as a warning to Churches, ministries and Church organizations of the damaging effect of this virus.
The liberal theology teachings against the Scriptures have closed down Churches and Church institutions in the West. Christians have lost faith on the Word of God as inspired, inerant, infallible, sufficint and authoritative in life, practice and doctrines. The rejection of the virgin birth, the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and the miracles recored as not part of Scripture has weakened the belief on the inspiration and authority of the Scriptures. This rejection has opened the door to worldliness, worldly lifestyles, worldly values, worldly views into the Church and the fundamental doctrines of Scriptures are abandoned.
Little wonder then that same sex marriages, homosexuals, lesbians, abortion at will, euthanasia, etc. are acceptable practices of the Western Churches and nations. We call for a return to the Bible as the only inspired, authoritative, inerrant, sufficient and infallible rule of faith and practice for the Church and Christians in the 21st Century in Nigeria. "God's Word is very precious because it shows us the truth about God, about ourselves and the way to everlasting life. It teaches us how God wants us to live and it preserves us fromsin and temptation" We hope that God would use this conference to revive us and bring back the lost glory of hermeneutical principles of Bibleinterpretation, homiletically and expository preaching of the Scriptures back to our Churches.
"The supreme judge, by which all controversies of religion are to be determined, and all decrees of councils, opinions of ancient writers, doctrines of men, and private spirits, are to be examines, and in whose sentence we are to rest, can be no other but the Holy Scripture delivered by the Spirit, into which Scripture so delivered, our faith is finally resolved". (The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith)
