The Jo Kunnuji Experiment
With a vast repertory, ranging from Jazz, African, Soul and Pop music: a second-year Masters student of the South African College of Music (SACM), UCT, Joseph Kunnuji, leads Jo Kunnuji experiment.
The syncretic style, played by young South African musician, features West African rhythms and a South African emotional vocal style, laced with Jazz Harmony, thereby creating an unparalleled style, with a wide appeal.
The highlights of the Band is a tasteful combination of the best of South African young talents including:
Zoe Modiga (Vocals; CTIJF artist 2015),
Robin Fassie Kock (Flugel horn),
Tristan Weitkamp (Tenor Sax/ Background Vocals),
Georgie Jones (Baritone Sax/ Background Vocals),
Blake Hellaby (Piano),
Graham Strickland (Bass),
Cameron Claassen (Drums) and
Joseph Kunnuji (Trumpet, Vocals and percussion).
