The "Ease of Doing Business" refers to the degree of simplicity and efficiency of the regulatory and administrative frameworks within a country, which facilitates the establishment and operation of businesses.
It is a crucial factor for investors and entrepreneurs in deciding where to invest or start a business. In recent years, Ghana has been making efforts to improve its "Ease of Doing Business" ranking, which measures how simple or difficult it is to set up and operate a business in the country. According to the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business Index, Ghana ranked 118th out of 190 countries in 2020, up from 120th in 2019.
The work environment in Ghana is a unique blend of formality and traditional Ghanaian culture, which requires respecting hierarchy and maintaining relationships with business partners. However, Ghana has made significant progress in improving its business environment, with the government implementing reforms to reduce bureaucracy and improve the regulatory framework.
The country has also established special economic zones to attract foreign investment and create jobs. However, there are still challenges to doing business in Ghana, such as corruption, inadequate infrastructure, among others.
