Solidarity Volley Ball Game Against Torture (Amnesty International)

By Israel Oluwagbemiro Thomas

Event Details

26th June is the International Day in support of Victims of Torture. It is a day set aside globally by Amnesty international to take action in solidarity for torture victims and survivors all over the world and more particularly for the five key cases that we are campaigning on. Last year, over one million Amnesty International members mobilized online and offline actions across the five countries of focus. These actions, and the level of global activism have contributed hugely to progress in the cases that we targeted in the campaign. This year, we would like to work together with you to increase this impact, engagement and activism to show your solidarity for torture victims and survivors all over the world. The objective of the Campaign is to: · Show solidarity for victims of torture; · Call for an end to torture; · Call on States to put in place effective safeguards to prevent torture and ultimately eradicate this barbaric practice · Promote Amnesty’s global petitions focused on the five priority cases Actions gathered through this campaign will be delivered to decision-makers and government authorities later in the year according to the case strategies.
