The book club is back after the 'long' break!
The Underground Railroad is one of his best novels, actually way better to attract Oprah’s attention and pick it for her book club.
Cora, a young slave at the cotton plantation in Georgia. Being a slave was so hard she also received bad treatment from her fellow Africans. Slaves were beaten and raped for amusement, even put on display for the entertainment of guests sipping lemonade. At the same time, she hates her missing mother who escaped when she was a child. With the horrific treatment and gruesome punishments of African slaves, Cora lost all the hope and the only language she understood is the pain, sorrow and hard time. As things get scarier and tough for both of them they are forced to flee again, Cora embarks on a harrowing flight, state by state, seeking true freedom.
It's a sad and emotional story worth sharing. Come and let's discuss it!
