Sabina Ddumba Live at National Theatre Jam Session

By Embassy of Sweden in Kampala

Event Details

The Embassy of Sweden/Selam/Bayimba are proud to present Sabina Ddumba live at the National Theatre Jam Session on 4 December. It is going to be a unique experience – don’t miss the Swedish-Ugandan artist’s first concert ever in the Pearl of Africa! FREE ENTRANCE Born in 1994 from Ugandan parents, Sabina Ddumba grew up in a suburb outside Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. In recent years she has established herself as one of the most talented and promising artists of her generation. One of the most prominent features of Sabina Ddumba is the effortless and completely natural tone of her voice, but music was neither a first nor a natural choice. Sabina's first line of expression was through dancing. But then, at the age of 14 Sabina was brought along to Tensta Gospel Choir and here the Sabina we know today came onto the stage. After just two years of finding a voice within the choir, Sabina started getting professional back up gigs. 18 years old she was signed to Warner Music Sweden, followed by a publishing deal with Warner Chappell. 2014 came the debut single, Scarred for life, followed by the aptly named single Effortless and later Not too young (over 30 million plays on Spotify). 2016 was the year of the debut album Homeward Bound. And that unique voice, that’s the core of the budding success of Sabina Ddumba. Effortless and completely enchanting at the same time, both sophisticated and intense, you need to hear her only once - after that you’ll instantly know when it is Sabina you hear.
