8 DAYS MARANGU ROUTE (COCACOLA ROUTE)2
Day1:
Nairobi to Moshi. The tour leaves Nairobi from the Parkside Hotels, where you will catch the Nairobi to Moshi express bus, this is a public shuttle service.You are asked to meet at Parksides Hotel at 7.15am sharp!. The journey to Moshi takes between 6 and 7 hours, including the stop at the border. Drop off is at the Moshi shuttle station where a representative will transfer you to your hotel. On arrival at the Hotel in Moshi you will be met by a Kilimanjaro Climb representative who will run through all pre-climb details. Overnight stay, at a hotel.
NB Money changing facilities in Moshi are limited. ATM's are available and accept Visa card, but not Mastercard
.
DAY 2:
Moshi to Kilimanjaro N.P. After breakfast, you are collected from your hotel and transferred to the Kilimanjaro National Park. Your climb will begin through the lower rainforest, up to Mandara Hut for 3-4 hours, at 2750m, where you stay overnight in the purpose built chalets.
DAY3:
Kilimanjaro. We climb out above the forest and continue trekking past the Maundi crater, to ascend to the open moorland - this should take about 5-6 hours. Tonight you camp at Horombo Hut at an altitude of 3720m.
DAY4:An extra day is spent at Horombo camp.This will help in acclimatizing before we head to our final camp for the summit.We will ascend few metres during the day and later come back for lunch.Dinner and overnight at Horombo camp.
DAY 5:
Kilimanjaro. The trek to Kibo Huts via the saddle takes 4-5 hours (4720m) through Alpine Desert. Early dinner and rest before midnight departure for the summit!
DAY 6:
The Summit. Early midnight light breakfast. The steepest part of the route is to Gilman’s Point 5700m, which takes about 5-6 hours. There is another 90 minutes of trekking through snow until you continue around the crater to Uhuru Peak (5895m), the highest point in the whole of Africa! The descent to Kibo Huts takes about 2-3 hours where you can rest, refresh yourself and continue to walk back to Horombo Huts - 3 hours. Dinner. Overnight at Horombo Huts.
DAY7:
Kilimanjaro to Moshi. After breakfast we descend to Mandara Huts (3-4 hours) for lunch and then we descend all the way down to Marangu Gate (2 hours), where you are collected and transferred back to Moshi for your overnight stay at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY8:
Moshi to Nairobi. You will be collected by the shuttle bus at your choice of two scheduled time.We will organise this to your wishes in advance. Moshi - Nairobi, 6 - 7 hours including border crossing. Drop off at Parkside Hotel
