AFS Cine’s September programming includes ‘Rising Up at Night’ (2024), a film directed by Congolese filmmaker Nelson Makengo. The film explores hope, disappointment, and religious faith, presenting a subtle and fragmented portrait of a population that, despite its challenges, finds solace in the beauty of Kinshasa’s nights.
