Over ten years ago, activist Tarana Burke identified the phrase "Me too" as a powerful movement that could help women. Today, the viral hashtag has called much attention to the epidemic of sexual assault and harassment in our society affecting all communities.
Can Africa seize this opportunity to move the discourse and global outcry against gender discrimination to the next level? Why are many African women not coming out to join the campaign? Does it have anything to do with African cultural settings?
This lecture seeks to discuss the issue from a holistic perspective and discuss the role envisioned for the African media industry to affect positive change.
