In response to the wave of violence against foreign African nationals that has moved through many parts of South Africa in the last weeks, AFAI will host a public debate on the following topic ‘Should South Africa be placed under international sanctions e.g. trade, sport, cultural, diplomatic boycotts, until it has resolved the ongoing persistence of xenophobic outbursts?’.
The debate will be hosted at the Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town on 47 Commercial Street from 17:30-19:30 on Wednesday 29 April. The speakers are musician Sylvestre Kabbassidi; head of the Cape Town Refugee Centre Vuyani Shwane; journalist from Congo Square News, Oliver Tshinyoka and the Director of the Somali Association in Cape Town, Abdikadir Mohamed.
Please RSVP to Sophia Sanan- sophia@afai.org.za as seating will be limited.
