This is Calling on all schools to send their delegates to our yearly professional mental health counseling training for 2024.

The Institute of Counseling in Nigeria since 2018 has been equipping willing and mentally aware secondary and primary school teachers, counselors, and administrators to help maintain positive mental health for their students rather than applying a “fire brigade approach” when there is a crisis.

The reality is that many schools are made up of different children from various dysfunctional homes, and we sometimes blame the schools for their vices but fail to realize that the issues stem from their background, what if we can have schools that can come to the rescue?

From Gadget and social media addiction to peer pressure and bullying, unguided exposure to explicit materials, substance abuse, and addiction, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation etc. The mental health challenges that children and teenagers of school age are currently going through are alarming.

Unfortunately, the bulk is landing on the table of schools which are usually poorly equipped with professional counselors trained in evidence-based interventional and counseling skills to help these young ones navigate their day to day mental health challenges.
