Nii Nortey Owuo III - Osu Mantse invites you to join the chiefs and people of Osu to celebrate this year’s Osu Homowo.
Homowo is a harvest festival of remembrance and thanksgiving. It is used to remember a famine that struck the Ga people centuries ago on their migration to their present day settlements. It is also meant to give thanks to God for a bountiful harvest, and life. Homowo also marks the end of the Ga calendar year.
The day will be marked with preparation of the festive dish Kpokpoi, which is paired with seafood palm nut soup. Chiefs will also sprinkle the dish though out their jurisdictions, and the Osu Mantse will do so through out Osu amidst pomp and pageantry. The Osu Asafoi will join with war songs and musketry. Neighbours will greet each other with the festive salutation Afi ooo Afi.
All are cordially invited
