Code for Ghana together with the National Information Technology Agency is hosting this year's Open Data Day, Ghana at Mobile Web Ghana. The theme for this year's event is “Open Data for a free and fair 2016 elections”. Participants would be expected to scrape, clean, analyse and visualize elections data. At the end of the day, we expect to influence the way Ghana’s 2016 elections is conducted by the Electoral Commission and how it is reported by the various media outlets in the country. Data visualizations and applications have a way of presenting data in a more understandable format which also exposes several patterns that were otherwise hidden away in the data sets. It would be very beneficial to Ghanaians if there was a software solution to elections rigging; hopefully, participants at this year’s Open Data Day Ghana would take up the task to develop it.
All are cordially invited.
