The Yale Club Of Ghana And The Association Of Yale Alumni present:
The National Symphony Orchestra Of Ghana, The Yale Concert Band and The Yale Percussion Ensemble in concert to benefit The Ghana-Yale Partnership For Global Health.
Join us in celebrating the groundbreaking and collaborative efforts of The Ghana-Yale Partnership for Global Health (GYPGH)! Inspired by President John Dramani Mahama’s keynote address to the 2012 Summit on Elimination of Mother to Child Transmission (eMTCT) of HIV, the Ghana Health Service and Ghana-Yale Partnership for Global Health have launched an unprecedented public-private partnership aimed at making Ghana the first country in sub- Saharan Africa to eliminate Paediatric HIV.
The initial objective is to reduce the rate of mother to child transmission of HIV in Ghana from its current level of 15% to less than 5% by 2018, which would meet the World Health Organization's (WHO) criterion for elimination. With support from an expanded consortium of local, national, and global stakeholders, including the Government of Ghana (Office of the President; Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service; National AIDS Control Program), Christian Health Association of Ghana, Yale University (School of Medicine, Yale World Fellows Program, Association of Yale Alumni), IBM Foundation, ONE Campaign, University of Ghana, Ghana House of Chiefs, and Rotary Club of Ghana, the ultimate goal is a reduction in the rate of MTCT to less than 1% by 2020.
Building upon its mission of public service and education, the Yale Club of Ghana will host over 50 Yale students as they uplift this important initiative through music. As thought leaders in the future of Africa’s development, the Yale Club of Ghana is proud to be a sponsor of this inspired work and invites you to join them in celebration.
