Network and Information Security Course
The functionality and use of computer systems and networks keep advancing and now involves most of business or life critical tasks and information. This has left the security of information and computer networks with an ever-changing landscape of threats and vulnerabilities.
The course will equip participants with modern techniques to secure any kind of network and network-accessible resources from unauthorized access, misuse, modification or denial of service. This practical course is based on the CIA triad model (confidentiality, integrity and availability) to achieve security in both wired and wireless networks against insiders and intruders.
The course is in two levels. Level 1 & 2 prepares you for international certifications in networks and information security.
Level 1 Modules - 6weeks
- Information Security Fundamentals
- Addressing Threats
- Backdoors, Virus, and Worms
- Virtualization
- Introduction to the Linux Operating System
- Password Cracking
- Cryptography
- Web Servers and web applications
- Authentication
Target Groups: Network or System Administrators, Academicians, Students and Hobbyists.
Requirement: Minimum of Cisco discovery 2, its equivalent or any proof of knowledge and skills in below areas.
- OS concepts [Describe, install, upgrade, navigate, and perform basic configuration and troubleshooting for windows and/or linux OS.
- Networking up to sub-neting, routing protocols and basic skills in router and LAN configuration and troubleshooting.
- The internet structure and network services such as DHCP, DNS, FTP, HTTP and so on
- Any programming language will be added advantage
Level 2 Modules - 7weeks

- Network Attacks

Target Groups for level 2: Network or System Security Specialist (Beginner), Academicians, Students and Hobbyists.
Requirement: Network security level 1 or equivalent
Duration: 3 months
Evening: 6pm - 8:30pm
