The National Convening on Youth Unemployment would be happening on February 26-27 (Tuesday & Wednesday), 9am to 5pm each day. The venue is the Bank of Ghana Auditorium, University of Ghana
It would feature breakout sessions on topic relevant to the subject matter, presentations around the state of unemployment in Ghana, discussions around inclusivity in employment, sustaining employment, and great examples around solving unemployment.
The theme for the convening is : “Youth Unemployment in Ghana – Strategies for Sustainability and Inclusivity”. This convening is led by STAR-Ghana Foundation in conjunction with its partners. STAR-Ghana – Strengthening Transparency, Accountability and Responsiveness – has a vision to see an active and engaged civil society capable of articulating citizens’ demands and an effective state that is responsive and accountable to its citizens.
This event is following up on Jobcamps (regional networking forums on solving unemployment) which were held in May 2018. These were funded by STAR-Ghana and organized by the GhanaThink Foundation.
It would bring together various stakeholders who work in Ghana who are working actively to solve unemployment. These would include youth groups and associations, civil society organizations, public sector agencies and authorities, ministries, private sector employers, academicians, etc.
Partners involved are STAR Ghana Foundation, CSPS - University of Ghana, National Youth Authority, GhanaThink, Youth Advocates, SDGs Platform, Daily Graphic, etc.
