Event Details
Our 2nd edition of Mid-Morning Cinema on the 12th of March will feature Timbuktu.
Timbuktu is a 2014 French-Mauritanian film directed by Abderrahmane Sissako.
The film looks at the brief occupation of Timbuktu, Mali by fanatical jihadis and is an unflinching and quietly furious exploration of life under radical Islamist rule. Timbuktu was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or in the main competition section at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. It was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards and nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in the English Language at the 69th British Academy Film Awards.
Other notable films by Sissako include Bamako and Waiting for Happiness.
The event starts promptly at 10am.
You are encouraged to bring coffee, snacks, beanbags and a friend or two.
