MERE REMINISCENCE - A Solo Exhibition by Isaac Yeboah
If time is the three-headed beast of the past, the present and the future, memory is its vitality. Memory is the thread of the past that is seen in the fabric of the present and yet appears in the stitches of the future.
From the subtle to the blatant, these artworks invite the audience to think back on memories; pleasant, unpleasant, in-between and be grateful for these unseen hands of time that have guided us faithfully to where we are now today – the present.
Mere reminiscence, because it is good to reminisce.
Isaac, a Ghanaian born artist holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Arts (Ceramics) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi – Ghana. He is a 2017 shortlist artist of the Kuenyehia Prize for Contemporary Ghanaian Art and Barclays L’Atelier Art Prize respectively. He currently lives and works in Takoradi – Ghana.
Isaac’s drawings are an abstract representation of his immediate experiences inspired by culture, fantasy, nature, mystery and the metaphysical which all intricately weave together a captivating imagery.
A fluid connection which exists within the elements of his works translates a form of oneness and unity which brings his drawings alive.
Using the ballpoint pen as a medium, Isaac blends past and contemporary ideas and breathes life into vivid abstract imagery rich in detail and meaning.
