EXHIBITION AND PANEL DISCUSSION
To use “more grey matter” to use “less raw material”.
This meeting with the architects and curators agency Encore heureux - Architectes et collectif depuis 2001 will focus on rethinking the materials of our buildings and their use as part of a constructive strategy.
We will explore the idea of reusing materials at a crucial time when architecture should aim at reinventing itself taking into account the environmental and economic constraints as well as new uses.
The raw materials no longer lie beneath our feet or on the other side of the earth, but in our cities, our buildings, our infrastructures. It comes down to viewing the existing materials not as a waste we have to get rid of but as a capital we must value and preserve.
Taking for examples various projects in the world, we will see the potential of reuse and the possibility of a new life for the used materials retrieved in all those building lots.
Confronting those projects with some experiences in Ghana, more specifically in Accra, we would like to invite you to discuss with us about new spectrum of possibilities opened by reuse.
