Join us for an adventurous hike at Kiambicho Kiamuti Forest, a unique dry woodland forest located in the Sagana area of Murang'a. This forest is home to the upper section of the Sagana River and features the picturesque Sagana Gorges and Canyons, shaped by years of natural erosion. Historically significant, the forest was used to detain Mau Mau fighters as recently as 1952, with remnants of this history still visible today.
Experience breathtaking views from the hills, overlooking the scenic Ukambani and Mwea plainlands, as well as the majestic hills and valleys that define Murang'a. On clear days, you may even catch a glimpse of Mount Kenya!
This moderately rated hike covers approximately 16 km and begins with a thrilling crossing of a rickety bridge over the mighty river. The hike concludes at a restaurant with views of the river, where participants can enjoy lunch and games.
Due to rising temperatures, we recommend starting early in the morning to ensure a comfortable hike followed by a cooling down session by the river.
