We have a bookseller with credit card facilities. 10h00 – 10h30 WELCOME AND OPENING School Hall CEO of the Market Theatre and Former Artistic Director of the National Arts Festival, Ismail Mahomed Guest Appearances – Poet and Author Dr. Don Mattera and Author Ahmed Essop ADULT PROGRAMME – School Library (No under 16’s will be allowed into sessions) MC: Editor of Roshgold News Haroun Pochee and Business Development Manager Dimple Patidar. 10h35 – 11h20 BECOMING EXTRAORDINARY! School Library Life coach Khalid Jassat (Frameless) and Empowerment Educator Aysha Bangie (It’s All About Selfies) discuss ways of reaching an unlimited self-potential. Chaired by Author and Food Blogger Adeela Kasoojee (Riding the Samoosa Express). 11h20 – 12h10 CREATING A CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE YOUTH, OF PAST SACRIFICES. School Library Author and Poet Dr. Don Mattera and Author Mr. Ahmed Essop discuss the way forward with Freelance researcher, Writer and Political Analyst Ayesha Kajee. 12h10 – 13h00 DISCUSSION WITH THE AUTHORS. School Library Book readings from Author Mishka Hoosen (Call it a Difficult Night). Author Nozizwe Cynthia Jele (Happiness is a four-lettered word) and Author Pamela Power (Ms Conception) discuss their writing journeys with Academic Fatima Darsot and Poet Khalida Moosa. 13h00 – 13h50 ALL THINGS BLOGGING School Library Executive Editor of The Daily Vox Khadija Patel engages with Sports and Food blogger Naseem Mayet, Travel blogger Sara Essop, Cities and Books blogger Shagufta Pasta and Food and Arts blogger Saaleha Idrees Bamjee about how they began blogging, why they blog, how they create an online presence, the benefits of blogging and why they continue blogging. 13h50 – 14h40 CREATING A PAGE TURNER School Library Angela Makholwa (Black Widow Society) and Fiona Snyckers (Now Following You) discuss how they create suspense filled scenes in their novels with Impala Primary School Principal Naazim Adam and Author and Blogger Sumayya Mehtar (Riding the Samoosa Express). 14h40 – 15h20 NEW RELEASE PROMO – Beyond Spice School Library Zena Velloo John’s Poetry accompanied by the Visual Artistic Expressions of: Jayna Mistry, Kershnee Velloo, Raeesah Mahomed, Shaskia John and Shenaz Mahomed Chaired by Writer, Photographer, Food and Arts blogger Saaleha Idrees Bamjee. KIDS ACTIVITIES Hall Front Foyer Taking place in the front foyer of the hall, children of all ages will be involved a number of exciting activities. Win a prize for designing your own underpants. 10h40 – 11h15 STORY TIME School Hall Listen to Educator Amina Kara (Top Tots) and Dr. Zaheera Jinnah read a variety of short stories. 11h15 – 12h00 TEENS MEET THE AUTHORS (AGES: 11 to 18 year olds) Front of the School Hall Teens have the opportunity to meet Actress and Author Ameera Patel Outside the Lines and Author Bontle Senne Shadow Chasers Book 1: Powers of the Knife to find out more about their writing and their career choices. Chaired by Researcher and Writer Suraya Dadoo. On a first-come-first-served basis. Please note that this session has a limited capacity. 12h00 – 12h45 PUPPET SHOW (AGES: 4 to 11 year olds) School Hall Learn all about reading and visiting the local library brought to you by Ferhaad and Razina from the Extension 3 library. 12h45 – 13h15 BREAKING THE NORM – BOYS DO READ School Hall Journalist Faizel Patel speaks about his job and the importance of reading. 13h15 – 14h45 TEENS WRITING WORKSHOP (AGES: 11 to 18 years only) Front of the School Hall Teens have the opportunity to join a writing workshop with Writer Fatima Bheekoo-Shah (Sisters Magazine) and Author and Jounalist Qaanitah Hunter (Diary of a Guji Girl). On a first-come-first-served basis. Please note that this session has a limited capacity. 13h15 – 14h00 POETRY EXTRAVAGANZA (AGES: 4 to 11 years only) School Hall Play poetry games with Saffiya Mangera (Bright Beginnings). 14h00 – 14h45 SCARF STYLING AND MORE School Hall Educator Radia Bhamjee engages with Author and Educator Nazma Rasool (Exquisite Scarf Styling) about the skill of exquisite scarf styling. 14h45 – 15h20 PRIZE GIVING with Faiza Mahomed Ask Nanima and Author and Editor Nadia Cassim IRTIQA School Hall 15h20 – 15h30 VOTE OF THANKS School Hall Principal of Alpha Primary School Hasina Mahomed. 15h30 – 16h00 CLOSING School Hall Researcher and Writer Suraya Dadoo and Journalist Hasina Kathrada discuss the way forward in promoting reading and writing in our communities.
