By Roots Without Borders
Roots Without Borders’ Introduction to Sustainable Building Workshop will include plenty of both theoretical and hands-on experience. We will cover the benefits and misconceptions of sustainable building. We will explore an overview of different building methods including adobe, cob, cordwood, earth bag, earthen floor, rammed earth, tadelakt, timber framing, wattle and daub, and tires.
You will get your hands dirty learning how to test, make and apply natural plasters, including base coats and fine finishes. You will be working with natural clay and lime binders as well as testing unique water-resistant plasters which may include moringa and neem oil.
Have an idea for a building project? You will also learn how to source materials and have an opportunity to start designing your own dream projects. This workshop is applicable to many different building projects ranging from something as big as a home to something as small as a cook stove. This workshop will get your imagination flowing and start you on a path to exploring the wonders of sustainable building.
Expand your horizons and join us for two full days of immersion into the world of sustainable building!
