Located just off the Machakos-Wote road, Nzaui Hill is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. After reaching the Ukia junction, embark on a 12-kilometer journey down a rugged road until you reach the trailhead.

Nzaui Climb & Hike – A New Adventure Awaits!

We’re expanding our outdoor experiences—this time, we head east to Makueni, a place we know well for hiking but are now exploring for climbing! Nzaui Hill offers an exciting four-pitch climb, blending technical moves with breathtaking scenery.

The Route:

• 
  Pitch 1 (28m, 18): Follow a left-facing crack before stepping onto a ledge. A steep slab section leads to the anchors.


• 
  Pitch 2 (25m, 17): Enjoy flowing moves past four bolts, with the angle easing towards the top.


• 
  Pitch 3 (30m, 13): Traverse a large black slab with solid holds before climbing over grassy ledges to the anchor.


• 
  Pitch 4 (26m, 10): A scenic finish on a gentle slab with stunning views of Makueni’s landscape.

Trip Itinerary

5.00am Depart Nairobi for Nzaui Center expected to arrive and start the hike at 8.00am

12.30pm Enjoy your packed lunch or snacks at the peak as you view the scenic surroundings

5.30 pm Leave Nzaui for Nairobi expecting to arrive at 8.00pm

What to wear and items to carry:

• Wear comfortable running shoes or waterproof hiking boots (preferred)


• Wear gym/hiking pants (avoid jeans)


• Polyester T-shirt (like football jerseys) and an extra one to change after the hike


• Sunglasses


• Hat/cap


• Camera


• Binoculars


• Drinking water (3 liters)


• Sun screen and insect repellent


• Heavy snack or picnic lunch


• Energy bars


• Poncho or rain jacket


• Carry a change of clothes to keep warm after the hike


• Avoid unnecessary items
