The platform is open to young people aged between 18-35 with dedication to youth development and who have a strong passion to bring about social change in southern africa.
Global Platform is a worldwide network of youth training hubs for empowerment and activism. Our key mandate is to equip youths with the confidence, knowledge and skills to be active citizens and to engage with decision makers on issues concerning them, particularly related to governance and gender.
The first Global Platforms started in Tanzania and Denmark in 2009 and has now expanded to 10 youth hubs in Kenya, Jordan, Palestine, Myanmar, El Salvador, Ghana, Denmark, Bangladesh and now Zambia.
We work with young people because we believe that young people hold tremendous potential to challenge the political status quo and play a key role in the fight for a more just and equal world.
We work in close partnership with the ActionAid offices as well as Activista – the youth network of ActionAid. This secures a national foundation as well as a global outreach. Experiences, ideas and knowledge is shared across the Global Platforms via participants, our trainers and a strong social media network. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter and on our website: www.globalplatforms.org
Global Platform Zambia is the newest member of the platform family and we aim at reaching out to youths from across Zambia and the Southern Africa region. We opened in April 2016 with a team of three dedicated staff and an empty building, since then we have been working hard to co-create the place with the youth who are going to use the space.
