This is an interactive and intensive course which does not need prior knowledge of the subject matters. This life changing certificate course serves to introduce theories and concepts to provide a critical understanding of the determinants that shape the current global health situation, and the important role health professionals are expected to play.
The course is organized by a University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences coalition of student associations, particularly ZPSA (Pharmacy), ZIMSA (Medicine), ZMLSA (Medical Laboratory Sciences), ZOTSA (Occupational Therapy) in conjunction with Global Health Focus and the University of Zimbabwe. The course director and lecturer is Professor Don Eliseo Lucero Prisno III of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Don Eliseo has published in the fields of Global Health and Public Health in scientific journals and has authored book chapters. His work has been recognized by a number of International awards including the first Global Health Promotion Practice Award by the World Health Organization (WHO) and International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE).
This leadership initiative is one of a kind, gathering young global leaders from all over the world; Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Taiwan, Sudan, Sweden, Italy, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Swaziland, UK, and the Philippines. It is has been done in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Rwanda among others in Europe, Asia and Africa. It is being planned to be held in China, Nepal, India, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania and Somalia.
