Family Day Overview
Take the opportunity to travel off the local tourist path to visit Mamprobi, Accra, roughly 10 minutes from busy Osu. See what every day is like for a family unit living inside a compound. Experience the culture, language, sample local foods, and learn traditional songs and dance. The family head will greet you, then you will be immersed into 3 hours of rich traditional Ghana Culture.
- · Visit a working-class neighborhood in Mamprobi, Accra
- · Spend time with Ga family in their compound observing everyday family structure
- · Learn about GA Clan Customs first-hand from old traditions to today
- · Experience the local diet and cooking preparation firsthand while you pound Fufu
- · Engage a GA/TWI language session teaching you the local dialect
- · Dance the rhythms of traditional GA Dance & Drum learning a few moves
- · Take a trip around the community as we take you on a local walk
