Pilani Bubu is an independent artist, her First EP titled ‘Journey Of A Heart’ produced by RJ Benjamin, was released in 2012. The first single; ‘Miss Understood’ play-listed on 25 radio stations across South Africa and she’s performed her music both locally and globally.
Her live repertoire includes the recently launched Album Journey Of A Heart Part II: ‘Warrior of Light’ with new big band renditions from her first EP, poetic interludes and jazzy interpretations of folk music. An inspiring journey about the dualities of life, as the heart goes where it wills. Telling the story of her heart in love and in music and both the joy and sorrow that the sacrifice of passion brings.
She has shaped her music and story around her music expeditions to Toulouse, New York, Dublin, London, New Orleans, Lagos, Maputo – she is a story teller, and powerful performer who aims to leave her audiences moved and forever changed.
In her debut years she has graced the stages of the Drum Beat Festival, Grahamstown National Arts Festival, Fete De La Musique, The Orbit Jazz Home of Jazz, Winnies Soul & Jazz (Johannesburg), Jazz in The Park (New Orleans, Lagos (Women Rising Concert),, Mozamquie (Ambientes Bar and Kampfunio).
With a growing audience in NIgeria & New Orleans – making yearly returns to work the circuit. She also recently made Top100 on Voice SA.Her music is novel has evolved into a unique fusion of genres: jazz, blues, folk and funk - old souled but yet still so catchy. A very unique voice, cohesive global sound with great cross over appeal.
