Digital change is increasingly leading to digital gaps. Around 200 million fewer women than men have access to the Internet worldwide, as access to the Internet is increasingly recognized as an important prerequisite for social and economic participation. Women are also highly underrepresented in digital professions, and there are not enough visible role models for girls and young women who are interested in these professions.
eSkills4Girls aims tackle the digital gender divide by increasing the participation of women and girls in the technology / digital economy. We will do this through social enterprises promoting women in tech, with proven and scalable potential.
Teams will be selected from Accra, Manila, Odessa, and Sao Paolo to present at the Women20 Summit in Berlin this April 2017. Winning teams will also receive a package of support from GIZ and Impact Hub to further scale their ideas.
