The harvest has come to an end, the vineyards are decked in their autumn finery and just as the first vestiges of winter can be felt in the crisp air, the Elgin Wine valley opens its doors to visitors from far and wide for the annual Elgin Cool Wine and Country Food Festival. Each of the participating wineries will offer a unique programme, allowing patrons to tailor-make their experience according to their own personal preferences, whilst enjoying a welcome alternative to the hustle and bustle of city life. Award winning wines, a delectable culinary experience, a plethora of outdoor activities, live entertainment and natural scenic wonders will ensure that visitors enjoy a memorable time in this hospitable valley. The UCT wine society will be providing transport to and from the festival on Saturday the 29th April. Those wanting to attend will have to purchase their tickets before hand at R140 per person, either from www.webtickets.co.za or your local PicknPay. The ticket includes a tasting glass, festival programme, access to participating farms, live entertainment and wine tasting of a selection of 3 wines of your choice at any of the participating wine estates. Once you have purchased your ticket, send either Bevan (willoughby.bevan@gmail.com) or Michelle (PRTMIC015@myuct.ac.za) the barcode of your ticket and we will book you a spot on the bus! Remember, space is limited so we will not be reserving places on the bus without ticket confirmation.
