Welcome Message from the Organising Committee Graduate Women Zambia is pleased to invite you for the conference on “Women as Agents of Change” that will be held at University of Zambia (UNZA), Great East Road Campus. We are aware that women across the globe have historically faced some form of injustice and that global leaders through the sustainable development goals are cognizant of the need to change the status quo with regards to gender equality and empowerment for women and girls (SDG 5). The conference will provide a unique opportunity for delegates to engage in profound discourse towards defining the course of development for women and their role as agents of change. The conference will therefore draw participants from a wide spectrum of delegates from academia, policy makers, Civil Society Organizations, development partners and students. Submission of Abstracts Abstracts of between 200-250 words should be submitted by June 30, 2017 to the GWZ Conference Organising Committee via the email:, and copy The status of the abstracts after peer reviewing will be communicated to the authors by July 30, 2017. Please note that all abstract submissions should include the title of the paper, key words, the authors’ full names, institutional affiliation, and full mailing address (including telephone number and email address). Submission of Full Conference Papers Presenters are expected to send their full papers before or during the conference for inclusion in conference proceedings. The paper must follow the guidelines stated below:  Be a full paper with an abstract;  Written in English;  Title of paper must be in capital letters followed by name of author(s), their institutions, email addresses and phone numbers;  Format: Microsoft word;  Pages - 18 maximum including references;  One-and-half spacing;  Style: Times New Roman;  Font size: 14 & bold for title of paper, 12 & bold heading of sections and 12 for the whole body;  Citations and references must follow the American Psychological Association (APA) style. Any other citation is welcome so long there is consistency. All authors whose abstracts are accepted will be required to register in order to participate in the conference. Authors are advised to use Power Point for their presentations. Registration Fee There shall be a registration fee of 100 USD for international participants (or Kwacha equivalent) and K800 for local participants per conference participant/delegate. The registration fee covers stationary, refreshments and lunch but NOT accommodation.
