Kra Integrated Solutions (Krinsol Ecotours), a Ghana based Social Enterprise (SE), has developed and rolled the “Humanity Alive and Social Fiesta” initiative.
The "Humanity Alive and Social Fiesta" initiative is a philanthropic and charitable social inclusion, diversity management, inter-personal, cultural and community engagement initiative under our organization’s people, community centered and inspired "Neighborhoods Empowerment and Sustainable Transformation (NEST)" project.
Thematically, the “Humanity Alive and Social Fiesta” initiative aims at periodically organizing and offering charitable and philanthropic events, programs and activities for grassroots, poor, needy, vulnerable, underprivileged, marginalized, minority and deprived people, groups and communities.
The direct beneficiaries of such events, activities and programs are Children, Youth, Seniors (Elderly), and in particular, Persons with Special Needs/Disabilities, Reduced Mobility or Physically Challenged.
Last year, on December 15th, 2018, we organized and launched the maiden annual “Challenged Expedition” program under the “Humanity Alive and Social Fiesta” initiative through a pre-Christmas charity and philanthropic event for Persons with Special Needs/Disabilities, Reduced Mobility or Physically Challenged, a critical group who unfortunately, are often taken for granted segment of society and predominantly confined to the periphery of economic, social, cultural, community, societal and developmental structures.
Thirty (30) Persons with Special Needs/Disabilities, Reduced Mobility or Physically Challenged who benefited from the maiden event, were purposefully taken on an educational, leisure, recreation, outdoor, sightseeing, excursion, social, intercultural, entertainment, sports, active and healthy living and lifestyles field trip to two of Ghana's premium tourist sites, attractions and places of interest, the Kakum National Conservation Park and Cape Coast Castle. All expenses pertaining to this event was fully paid for by Kra Integrated Solutions (Krinsol Ecotours).
Ultimately, the “Challenged Expedition” is part of our organization’s comprehensive strategies and efforts to win the hearts and minds of the general public, at the grassroots, local and community level, help leverage, generate, activate and/or crystallize international, national, public, corporate, private sector, policy and decision makers and influencers' conscience, attention and actions.
This is aimed to serve as a catalyst for policies formulation paradigm shift towards authorities, decision makers or influencers assuming greater political and corporate capacity, mastery, passions and commitments to addressing the tremendous public and private spaces, amenities and facilities particularly, tourists sites, attractions and places of interest accessibility challenges, difficulties and/or barriers Persons with Special Needs/Disabilities, Reduced Mobility or Physically Challenged encounter in their daily lives or activities, and as well as other critical pervasive and emerging social, cultural, economic, societal, community and developmental concerns of these target groups.
It is also to create opportunities for people who find themselves in this community to thrive, celebrate, exchange ideas, share personal experiences, stories and achievements, build personal, career/professional, business, entrepreneurial and community links, contacts and networks, enjoy companionship, ease and comfort.
And additionally, to provide the much needed, but often neglected compassion, love, relief, care and attention to Persons with Special Needs/Disabilities, Reduced Mobility or Physically Challenged, a very critical group within communities but who unfortunately, are often taken for granted segment of society and predominantly confined to the periphery of economic, social, cultural, community, societal and developmental structures.
Further, in line with the true spirit, significance, meaning and values of humanitarian and social good, impact investing or making and philanthropy, the “Challenged Expedition” is to help fester a sense of belonging among such critical, but unfortunately, poor, needy, vulnerable, deprived, underprivileged, marginalized, minority and often taken for granted group or community.
The second edition “Challenged Expedition 2019” will take place on September 27th, 2019 as part of Kra Integrated Solutions (Krinsol Ecotours) activities, programs and events to celebrate World Tourism Day.
