The CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival is an alternative platform that brings art, music, dance and performance out of the galleries and onto the streets of James Town, Accra. The festival includes street painting, graffiti murals, photo exhibitions, interactive installations, a food and fashion marketplace, live street performances, extreme sports, African Cinema pavilion, street boxing, a fashion parade, a music block party, design labs and much more.
Due to the Corona Virus pandemic – the festival has had to adjust its programming to suit the precautionary guidelines to help stop the spread of the virus. This has limited our ability to fully produce the festival in our usual capacity especially in the event of our 10th edition; therefore Chale Wote 2020 would be the welcoming party for the 10th Edition to allow us to combine the celebration of both our 10th edition and our 10 year anniversary for Chale Wote 2021. Chale Wote is going virtual this year
Our vision is to cultivate a wider audience for the arts in West Africa by breaking creative boundaries and using art as a viable form to rejuvenate public spaces. The CHALE WOTE Street Art Festival challenges both artists and community-based audiences to connect through art.
We encourage all proud followers and global audience to donate and also buy our merchandise to support this free and independent festival, known for its vibrancy and the diversity of interdisciplinary artistes. Entrepreneurs and businesses are welcomed to advertise their products and services on our social platforms.
