CASHBUILD STEPS UP TO HELP SCHOOLS IN DOBSONVILLE
Eight schools in the Dobsonville area are the winners of the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition. They will each receive a Cashbuild building material voucher to the value of R15 000 at the Cashbuild Dobsonville Store Opening Ceremony on the 25th January 2018. The principals of some of the winning schools said that the Cashbuild vouchers will be spent on tiles, paint, general materials and items such as doors, windows and toilets, to name but a few.
Makhoarane Primary School, Mayibuye Primary School and Hector Peterson Primary School are three of the eight schools that will each receive a Cashbuild building material voucher to the value of R15 000.
Makhoarane Primary School principal, Charlotte Ndwanbi expresses great joy and says: “We have identified that the most urgent need right now is to tile some of the classroom’s floors. We are so grateful to Cashbuild for this wonderful prize”.
An extremely happy MB Malinga, principal of Mayibuye Primary School says: “We will be using the R15 000 voucher to paint the passages, bathrooms and do general touch up maintenance where most needed.”
Principal of Hector Peterson Primary School is so grateful to Cashbuild and cannot thank them enough for making what he thought was the impossible, possible. “We plan to use the voucher for renovations by replacing doors, toilets and broken handles. We also need gardening tools to enable us to create a pretty garden for the school grounds.” says Mr Bonongo.
At the official Cashbuild Dobsonville Store Opening Ceremony on the 25th January 2018, when the building material vouchers totaling R120 000 will be issued to all eight schools, the children will entertain everyone with singing, cultural dances and theatrical performances.
The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition entails learners from each school submitting their best artwork to Cashbuild. This artwork is displayed at the ceremony, and then remains on display in the Cashbuild store for the next six years.
Artwork will be judged and three winners from each school will be named. Winners will receive Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively. The Manager’s Choice award will also be presented to the overall winner of the artwork competition. This award will be announced on the day and the winning learner will receive a stationery pack and a glass trophy. The winner is also given the honour of officially opening the store.

Since the Art-at-Heart campaign was launched 17 years ago, Cashbuild has helped more than 2 900 schools in Southern Africa with over R36-million worth of building materials. Cashbuild is BEE compliant and every time a store is opened, relocated or refurbished, Cashbuild not only makes donations to local schools, but also creates jobs for community members.
The Art-at-Heart competition is a southern African Cashbuild initiative whereby donations are made to some of the region’s most needy schools.
