Event Details
3 years have gone by since we started pretending to DJ in The Green Room, and to celebrate we've put together a little party, with artists from either sides of the US, London and Sheffield's finest. This is also our first party at Hope Works, which we've been itching to do for a long time.

Andrés (Mahogani Music / Slum Village / La Vida - Detroit)
A true Detroit legend and close friend of Moodymann, Amp Fiddler and the late, great J Dilla, Dez Andres is a revered selector & DJ of house, disco, boogey, hip hop and all things soulful. Touring with hip hop collective Slum Village, producing for artists such as Theo Parrish, Erykah Badu & Jurassic 5 and releasing on Mahogani Music since the 90s established his name, but it has been since the launch of his own label La Vida back in 2012 that he has really cemented his place as one of Detroit's greatest exports.
His first release on this imprint featured the really incredible "New For U", which was Resident Advisor top track of 2012.
Other highlights of his more recent production career include the South African house-tinged "Ribena".
Raised in Cuban-Jamaican background and informed by the sounds of Latin American drumming which was his first instrument as a youngster, his is a broad and eclectic taste, and we can't wait to hear what he has in store for us!

Seven Davis Jr (Must Have / Apron / IZWID - L.A.)
We welcomed Apron boss FunkinEven to our party back in June, and we're super excited to bring one of his latest signings Seven Davis Jr to Sheffield.
Raised in California, SDjr. is a trained gospel vocalist, raised on the classic vocal sounds of Michael Jackson, Prince, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin. He evolved with a love for jazz and classical before venturing into more mainstream/underground artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Portishead, Tricky and Bjork. With a strong artistic vision he rejected several major label offers at a young age opting instead to work behind the scenes writing, recording and anonymously assisting various other artists with their own careers.
He discovered house in his early adulthood and this influence can clearly be heard throughout his productions. Futuristic sounds with classic influence as well as somewhat alien concepts - This is future soul music.
Check out his string of fantastic releases!

Al Dobson Jr (Rhythm Section / IZWID)
Peckam based producer Al Dobson Jr pricked many ears with his record Rye Lane Vol.1, the debut release on clubnight Rhythm Section's new label. Jam-packed full of raw house, soul, afrobeat, hip hop and funk sounds, it is easily one of the releases of the year for us. Another Sheffield debut for this guy!
