BAJANA INTERNATIONAL MARATHON 2015 Racing for charity is not new, of course, and thanks to the rise of the destination race holiday, neither is the idea that a 6 hour flight to the smiling coast of Africa can form part of your race preparations. But Bajana International Marathon which has a 10k run for tourist to The Gambia is something different, organised entirely by the Gambia volunteers trust (GVT). Bajana 10K is one of a new breed of races that combines charity and travel, so competitors venture out, shake hands with the recipients of the money they’ve raised and see funded projects in action. There’s no minimum cash requirement, although most runners do aim to raise money for Gambia Volunteers nursery building projects in deprived communities. Runners and fundraisers can book a seven night travel to the Gambia with our race partner the Gambia Experience. The seven nights package is a packed with visits to tourist attractions and Gambia Volunteers charity projects leading up to race day. Bajana 10K is a charity run which takes place in the village of Bajana, along the Trans-Gambia highway. It is a road run which starts from Somita Village ending at Bajana. Runners will see Gambia’s beautiful rural settings and will be cheered on by villagers as you run along the route. The Gambia Volunteers would like to challenge companies, business owners and those working for companies to sign up to Bajana 10k package and fundraise at work towards the up-coming 2015 Bajana 10k. It is the best way you can support our charity, run in the smiling coast of Africa and have a fantastic holiday visiting charity projects and tourist attractions. Those who cannot run the Bajana 10k can still book the package; they can come to the race village and see performances of Gambia traditional cultural shows. You can register to run the Bajana 10K, if you are going to be in The Gambia at the time of the race on the 4th of April 2015.
