Event Details

What is the impact of corn on our local food way?

What is the history of photography in how we tell our stories?

How has fashion evolved from woven fabrics draped regally to hand printed dye two piece sets?

Fashion, food and art are powerful ways of telling the world about who you are. They are cultural artifacts that provide context on how we build meaningful lives. Whether looking at the evolution of fashion and style, or discovering the innovative fusions that have influenced our palate or understanding how art can express the politics of our identity, food, fashion and art, are the ways we define ourselves and distinguish our history and culture from others. This culture hop presents a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds in the history and popular culture that define living in Accra.

Each event includes a guided tour that combines historical and personal narrative from experienced guides with deep connection to  Accra. Guides will provide interesting facts and point out key monuments, people and places that have helped contribute to the ever evolving culture of Ghana.

The bus will be guided by a playlist that illustrates sounds that provide auditory context for the sights and sounds. This includes songs, old and new, that point to the related to the sites being visited.

Participants will have a chance to walk around the sites, touching buildings, talking to people and manipulating artifacts like crafts and kenkey. The experience is meant to kindle curiosity and spur imagination by offering a tactile experience for the guest.

Each experience is capped with a prix fixe lunch at a local restaurant that is owned and operated by someone with roots in the ever evolving cultural scene in Accra

Every guest will be given a gift bag with items that capture the beauty of Ghana's food, fashion and art in a way that honors their experience. They will also be served cocktails by Aphro, a local drink manufacturer owned and operated by Ghanaians.

Included: Tour Guide, Transport, Food, Curated Playlist, Gift bag
