Amnesty International will release its Annual Report (Online) on the State of the World’s Human Rights on Wednesday 22 February 2017.
The Annual Report provides a comprehensive analysis of the state of human rights around the world, covering 159 countries, including 11 in East Africa, the Horn and the Great Lakes.
In Nairobi, Justus Nyangaya, Amnesty International’s Country Director for Kenya, and L. Muthoni Wanyeki, Amnesty International’s Regional Director, will warn against the politics of demonization that is driving a pushback against human rights globally, and political misuse of identity in the region. They will also speak to rising authoritarianism and conflict in the region and call for more efforts to stand up for individuals who defend human rights. Amnesty International’s country teams for East Africa, the Horn and the Great Lakes will also be available for comment.
The press conference (Open to Media only) will be held at Amnesty International’s Regional Office at the following address
