Excited to announce the opening of ‘Almost There,’ a duo exhibition featuring Sudanese artist, Esra Rahma Abdalla Mohamed and Ugandan artist, Nshekanabo Peter on November 15, 2024
@thenoldorresidency at 7pm.
‘Almost There’ highlights critical, defining points in time when we straddle the blurred lines of action and inaction.
Mohamed [
@esra.rahama], having fled her home due to war, and Peter [
@nshekanabopeter], having spent his formative years in the slums of Uganda, their respective and collective oeuvres acknowledge the difficulty in finding clarity during these moments, but beckon viewers to always take action than to resign to fate.
Central to the exhibition is the exploration of colour as a political language, particularly the evocative hues of red and black. Red, often associated with urgency, passion, and pain. Black, rich in depth and history, encapsulates both the weight of loss and the resilience of identity. Together, these colors weave a tapestry of emotion that clearly convey the artists’ narratives bordering themes of urgency, responsibility, and the moral weight of engagement.
