African Metropolis: Six Films from Africa

By The Art Space Kenya

Sat, Apr 9. 8AM - 10AM

Event Details

It has been our quest to discover and share conversations about films not only by African filmmakers but also by Kenyan artists. For this session of Mid-morning Cinema made possible by the Goethe Institut-Nairobi, we look forward to indulging you with six short films by six phenomenal filmmakers, one of them being our very own Jim Chuchu. African Metropolis is a compilation of six short fiction films, set in six major African cities, a unique partnership towards new African cinema. The films from Abidjan, Cairo, Dakar, Johannesburg, Lagos and Nairobi tell urban tales about life in African metropolises with less focus on the cliché narrative of traditional, rural Africa. The six shorts are directed by: Vincent Moloi, Marie Ka, Philippe Lacôte, Folasakin Iwajomo, Jim Chuchu & Ahmed Ghoneimy. The African Metropolis Short Film Project is an initiative of the Goethe-Institut South Africa and executive producer Steven Markovitz, with support from Guaranty Trust Bank and the Hubert Bals Fund of International FilmFestival Rotterdam. Date: 9th April 2016 Time: 11am-1pm Admission: Free The event starts promptly at 11am. You are encouraged to bring coffee, snacks, beanbags and a friend or two.
