The prosecution’s efforts to declare Claudia insane and prevent the legal proceeding are motivated by the desire to shield and protect Claudia’s stepfather from humiliating public exposure. The prosecution attempts to uphold Donald’s unwritten social right to preserve his honour and silence any damaging evidence that may put him to shame.
