IT'S TIME TO GO TO RIO AGAIN !
In 2019, the Rio Carnival takes place in March and we will celebrate it in Accra for the 8th consecutive year!
The Rio Carnival is a wild 5-day celebration, 40 days before Easter. It officially starts on Friday and finishes on Fat Tuesday with the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday after which one is supposed to abstain from all bodily pleasures. Carnival with all its excesses, celebrated as a profane event, could be interpreted an act of farewell to the pleasures of the flesh.
Each year since 2012, for all of us who cannot go to Rio de Janeiro ;-) accraexpat.com
organizes its "Rio Carnival" in Accra. See the photo albums of each year on Photos on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pg/accraexpatcom-113040395384815/photos/?tab=albums

Thanks to all, this event has become part of the Accra scene, with over 500 guests year after year.
Samba, Bossa Nova, Funk Carioca, Electrobrasil and Latino music will keep this Carnival do Brazil party going through the night. A music diversity of the deep rooted Afro-Latin rhythms that conquered the world.
Little Havana on Oshie Road in Nyaniba, just east of Osu in Accra (see attached map - best is to come from Ring Road and Labadi Road, turning at Sun City Hotel).
As always, the party will be held mostly outdoor, decorated and lit for the occasion.
Doors open at 9pm. Brazilian music exclusively for the first hours.
Six costumed Carnival queens will join us again.
Tickets at the door: GHS 35 single - GHS 60 couple.
Cash bar (special drinks menu).
A carnival face mask will be given to each guest but it is up to you to dress Carnival-style!
