IT'S TIME TO GO TO RIO AGAIN !
In 2019, the Rio Carnival takes place in March and we will celebrate it in Accra for the 8th consecutive year!
The Rio Carnival is a wild 5-day celebration, 40 days before Easter. It officially starts on Friday and finishes on Fat Tuesday with the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday after which one is supposed to abstain from all bodily pleasures. Carnival with all its excesses, celebrated as a profane event, could be interpreted an act of farewell to the pleasures of the flesh.
Each year since 2012, for all of us who cannot go to Rio de Janeiro ;-)
accraexpat.com organizes its "Rio Carnival" in Accra. See the photo albums of each year on Photos on our Facebook page
