THEME:SCALING-UP OF EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT SERVICE DELIVERY IN KENYA.
Dear Honourable Delegates
Welcome to the 5th Annual Early Childhood Education Summit Exhibition 2018 which aims at harmonizing our capacities and resources for better service delivery of ECDE programs in the Republic of Kenya.
To start with; Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) globally and Kenya in particular has been recognized as a crucial programme that lays a foundation for a child’s holistic and integrated education that meets the cognitive, social, moral, spiritual, emotional, physical and developmental needs.
In Kenya, Devolution has revamped Early Childhood Development and Education(ECDE) by handing its management over to county governments. This has radically changed Kenya’s education system and standards by putting emphasis on the foundation a child gets in education, which tends to affect how such a child engages with education in later life. Devolution has also increased the number of children who get exposed to education, which has directly affected the number of children who stay in school through primary, secondary and university level.
However; despite the growing importance of Early Childhood Education, still there are number of challenges that have continued to pull down its effective implementation. These include inadequate teaching and learning resources, Infrastructural development, socio-economic factor, High Teacher /Child Ratio with Poor Remunerations, financial constraint.
But for us to eliminate the above challenges, the 5th Annual ECDE Summit will has consider the following four factors which stand out as the key catalysts in scaling-up ECD in Kenya to be the agenda of discussions: Community involvement and ownership; both National/County governments involvement and support; the existence of a national decentralised training systems; and strategic support by various development partners.
Join us in this summit as we will make a great deal of progress in increasing access and strengthening governance as well as enhancing quality as we realize the summit objective of:
• more concerted efforts to ensure equitable access to services by marginalised communities and children with special needs
• strengthened coordination across governments ministries, for enhanced integrated and holistic service delivery
• ensuring that parent education programmes are supportive to the development of children under 3 years of age
• ensuring that all ECD practitioners are not only well trained but also well compensated for their services.
We look forward for your participation. For more information on how to attend please email us on:
