PeaceNet-Kenya and American Friends Service Committee, in collaboration with the 2016 KPC Working Group, have the great pleasure of inviting you to the 3rd Annual Kenya Peace Conference. The Kenya Peace Conference (KPC) is organized by a coalition of national and local peace actors fostering a shared vision of peace in Kenya. The theme of the 2016 conference is: “Preventing the cycles of political violence: a participatory framework for sustainable peace beyond 2017 elections” Thematic areas of focus Existing National and International Best Practices for Peaceful and Fair Elections Gender and Politics Early Warning Systems for Conflict/violence Prevention/Mitigation The Shared Security Approach Sustainable Peaceful elections strategies Financial and Technical Resourcing for Peacebuilding Conflict Sensitive Media Reporting Enhancing Coordination of Interventions for Peace Addressing Root causes of Electoral violence Small Arms and Light Weapons The Kenya Peace Conference will accept two types of abstracts: research based or practice based. The guidelines for each are identified as follows: * Word limit: 300 words in English *Research based abstract structure: problem/gap, objectives, methodology, outcomes and conclusions/recommendations *Practice based abstract structure: Analysis of the issue, good practices and conclusion/recommendations. *Speak to the theme: address the areas of focus *Drawn from existing policy and practice: shared experience and good practices encouraged *Evidence based: must be factual and based on recent experience/study *Full paper: not exceeding 12 pages together with references. Font size must be 11, Font type - Arial, double spaced. DEADLINES a. Abstract: 22nd of August 2016 b. Notification to presenters: 1st September 2016 c.
