(This event was had took place on Friday march 4th 2016) 1000Hills Debate Promoters this is an Oxford Debate style. This style give and help students to make scientific researches, being capable to pitch and interpret what they came up with from their research and be able to present to the public results from their researches on a given topic. Ideas from their views will help the nation to solve current and future problems stated from published topic to debate on. from 15th to 21st february we anounced that process and we published every where in the campus pamphelets containing all informations related on appliation in the debate competion. the topic of the competition was "WHAT RWANDA CAN DO TO BECOME THE BEST ATTRACTIVE AND BE THE FRIST LEADING ECONOMIC COUNTRY IN AFRICA" 58 University students applied for the copmetion and through peselection with the help of our lecturers, we came with 8 contestants who had been qualified for the final competion. 4 contestants was from CBE (college of Business and Economics) 2 contestants was from CAVM ( College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine) 1 contestant from CASS (College of Arts and Social Siences) and 1 contestant from CST (College of Science and Technology) with the help from UR-Huye campus,carrer guidence center, lecturers and UR-Students Union, we worked together to train our contestants by giving then different skills related to: Public speaking, Leadership stiles &skills, Research technics, Project development & management and Conflict management. all these was to help them to find out and express ideas that have facts and reference to what they will be presenting on final debate competition. 4th march 2016 from 5pm to 6:30 pm all contestants was given 10min each to presant his/her research on the topic: "WHAT RWANDA CAN DO TO BECOME THE BEST ATTRACTIVE AND BE THE FRIST LEADING ECONOMIC COUNTRY IN AFRICA" after a breack of musicians, all contestants returned back to be asked questions by judges and audience. after answering all asked question... three winner of debate competion first edition was announced by a team of judges headed by Lecturer MUGABE Gabriere together with Lecturer BYABAHANGA, Lecturer Jean Bosco HARERIMANA and ISHIMWE Saidi ( Our Organizer ). announced three winners as follow: 3rd INGABIRE Pascaline from CBE 2nd EKISA Monique from CST 1st UWASE VAnnesa from CBE All contestants was given certificate and T-shirt The first winner recieved a cheque of 60,000 rwf (money which will help her to pay the leaving allowance for the next academic year) The second received a cheque of 50,000 rwf (money which will help her to pay restaurent for 2months). The third received a cheque of 40,000 rwf (money which will help her to pay next accademic year tuition fees). All money on cheque was given to winners by BDF sponsorship. BDF suponsored us also in organizing these event in all conners. Our thanks goes to: UR-Huye campus BDF Career Guidence Center Guild Cabinet RBA Radio Salus Radio Huye Tele10 Our future projects are: September we will come with The second project is which is" I CAN BE YOUR VOICE Project" Where we willorganize a competion of business project ideas within all UR calleges have students at UR-Huye campus. this project will go parallel to a dunk competition where 10top pictures will used in advitisment of public and private institutions.
