Starts: Monday, 27 April, 2015 03:30pm
Ends: Monday, 27 April, 2015 06:30pm
Tanzania is part of the league of African oil and gas producers following the discovery of natural gas, while expectations for crude oil reserves discovery remain high. This new opportunity is likely to impact Tanzania’s socio-economic development and geopolitical place in the region, but whether or not it will help improve the livelihood of households and contribute to the local economy still depend on numerous factors.
Given the development opportunities that the oil and gas industry represents in Tanzania, and in light of the many challenges raised by exploration and production, the French Embassy to Tanzania is holding a high-level debate on the topic “Oil and Gas in Tanzania: geopolitics and development” on April 27th at 18:30 at the Alliance Française.
This debate, moderated by Salvator Ntomola, will bring together a panel of experts and high-level personalities from the academic field, private sector and civil society, including Hon. Lawrence Masha, former Deputy Minister of Energy and Minerals, Benjamin Augé, French expert and researcher, Prof. Abraham K. Temu from the University of Dar es Salaam, Stéphane Gay, Managing Director of Total Tanzania and Denis Maringo, founder and director of ONGEA.
A cocktail will be served at the end of the debate.
