CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: ARTHOUSE FOUNDATION ARTIST RESIDENCIES 2016
The Arthouse Foundation is an artist residency programme that takes place in the city of Lagos, Nigeria. With a newly renovated building in the heart of Ikoyi, the Arthouse Foundation offers residency for two artists simultaneously throughout the year. The Arthouse Foundation is a newly created non-profit initiative of Arthouse Contemporary, West Africa’s leading auction house of modern and contemporary art.
The Arthouse Foundation aims to encourage the creative development of contemporary art in Nigeria by providing a platform for artists to expand their practice and experiment with new forms and ideas. The Arthouse Foundation embraces contemporary art as an educational model to engage communities, promote social dialogue and advance the critical discourse of artistic practices.
This call for applications is open to local and international visual artists and curators who wish to engage a new artistic project within the city of Lagos. With three-month sessions in the Spring and Fall, the Arthouse Foundation provides artists live/work space and logistical support for the creation of a new artistic project, along with an intensive public programme that includes workshops, artist talks, and a final exhibition. The Arthouse Foundation will host two artists per session.
